About OpenSees
Description
OpenSees, the Open System for Earthquake Engineering Simulation, was created at the University of California, Berkeley by Dr. Frank McKenna under the supervision of Prof. Gregory L. Fenves.
OpenSees is written in C++ and is integrated with the Tcl and Python scripting languages for users to build and analyze models without having to compile source code.
In addition to structural and geotechnical finite element analysis, OpenSees has modules for structural reliability and uncertainty analysis, as well as fluid-structure interaction.
Notes
- Prior to taking on the name “OpenSees”, the software framework was known as “G3”, as this was the group in the Pacific Earthquake Engineering Research (PEER) Center, tasked with creating simulation testbeds for applications of performance-based earthquake engineering.
I work on problems related to modeling and nonlinear structural analysis. If these problems are relevant to a current professional project, feel free to reach out.
